Per our Media Clerk meeting today regarding periodicals, I wanted to post this question:
What periodicals work for your library and what Library are you located in? We are weeding out a few, and adding a few new. I would like a good technology magazine for teens, and a snowboard magazine (both Middle School level). Have you had any luck on these topics where they are popular with your students, and if so what magazines are they?
Thank You!

We have SUBSTANTIALLY reduced the number of our subscriptions. Our overall checkouts (Fic) is up, but magazines are way down. We maintain...Time (archiving), US News & World Report (forensics & research), Wired (technology), Animation (some art/gaming/graphics/etc.), Scientific American, Nat. Geo, Smithsonian (donated), StreetScene and another car-related, a women's fitness mag, Sports Illustrated...and three daily newspapers. Linda can fill you in on the details. We let go of most others (snowboarding, skateboarding, fluff, entertainment)... they were NOT being utilized, many have decent online versions, and there is little reason to archive. Our total subsciption base is less than 15 (correct me, Linda, if I am wrong). We archive Time, Nat. Geo. long term...the rest, only current/+2 yrs now.
The boys at LYMDSR love Field and Stream, Colorado Outdoors and Transworld Skateboarding. I think that I am going to try Wired (tech) per Skyline's list and Silvercreek's suggestion.
Girl's Life was recommended by several middle school clerks.
