I'm Myra Giersdorf, a media clerk at Skyline High School. I started during the 2002-03 school year. I work with Alice York, the teacher-librarian, and Linda Stewart, the other media clerk. Whereas most schools are reducing clerk hours, our principal Tom Stumpf, is extremely supportive of the library and understands the importance of a strong library and information literacy program. I believe we are the only school with two library clerks. We are fortunate.
My kids are grown; my son is 29 and my daughter is 27. I'm married; my husband works on the Northslope of Alaska, 3 wks on and 3 wks off. I love working in the library -- especially the technology applications. My passions outside of the job are gardening, music, books, computers and technology gadgets, genealogy, golf, going to Vegas with my daughter, and my golden retriever, Molly.
I'm Ann Cisar, the new media clerk at Lyons Middle/Senior. This is my first experience with a blog!
My husband & I have been married for 17 years. We have a son in 9th and a daughter in 6th at Lyons.
Holli and Cindy Kelley (my mentor) have been so helpful this first month with all that there is to learn about being a media clerk! The mentor program is wonderful!
The teacher librarian at Lyons teaches 5 classes and coaches, so I am basically in the media center by myself every day. All of the topics listed for mentoring sound very helpful! Thanks Myra.
I'm Lynn Hogan, the media clerk at Silver Creek HS. I have been here from it's beginning six years ago. We have a student population of 1043 this year. I work with Phil Gorener our teacher librarian. I am a empty nester at home. Somehow I still keep quite busy. I am looking forward to using this blog with the new Mentees and their Mentors.
Welcome Ann! Glad you joined. We know that your job at Lyons is unique in that your teacher librarian is rarely in the library. You are essentially the librarian. Ask anything, anytime and we will try to point you in the right direction. Holli is very helpful and you are very lucky to have Cindy as a mentor.
Because I am brain dead, I am just now getting onto your blog. Thanks for the latest email about the class that gave me the link. I'd like to subscribe so that I get posts in my email. I didn't see an option for that on the blog. Am I missing something?
I have a lot of reading catching up to do. Great, great job by the way.
Here is the link to my blog: http://cmasson50.blogspot.com/
